A record number of people with suspected cancer are being referred by their GPs to specialists.
However, new figures show that the NHS has not been able to keep up with the increased demand and is carrying out fewer tests than it was before the pandemic.
Our data and forensics correspondent Tom Cheshire has this analysis.

The Silent Weapon for the Quiet War deployment in the Arm began in December 2020. If the vascular disease doesn't get folks, the cancer with the suppressed and destroyed natural immunity will.
We did try and warm folks, but we were vilified by the MSM by like Sky News.
And now we have to deal with the Dark Winter of the NetZero Energy Crisis and the food starvation of the future Holodomor Famine.
The big issue is that the NHS remains underfunded. In Germany we can cope because we do have more hospitals more doctor's and more nurse to provide treatment and care!
I wonder why with all this 5G technology. They did warn us but everyone are addicted to all this technology
The n h s is finished put it out of its misery
My dad's in this position just now and I can't fault the staff but there's just not enough of them. It's the worst situation to be in. Can't express the level of anger I have for this government.
Of course the NHS can’t cope because the service is appalling it’s totally crap and always will be.
Safe and effective
And at the heart of this: underfunding and bottlenecking of training numbers/ posts for these specialities
Abolish the NHS
I’ve been going through this for 3 years. I cannot fault the care i have been given by NNUH and the James Pajet in GT Yarmouth. I haad a tumour in my stomach and it was removed, i now have it again on my spleen and pancreas and am waiting for stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, but it was cancelled due to the tumour moving when i breathe, the beam has to hit it precisely. I am 64 single father of 2 young boys, i pray i survive
Yep, the fallout really begins
I have blood cancer on chemotherapy..when I go to the cancer hospital I get rushed through in out and don't have a chance to discuss how things are nothing..sat here waiting to die
Labour won’t like that! They want doom and gloom and they will cause it with their union puppet masters!
Bulgaria took part in the sham
All the tory voters will be trying to blame the nurses next, smh.
The most important question is, why are there so many people with suspected cancer. Now I would love to hear the lies to cover that one up.
In South Africa it's the same day!!!!!
And now they're going to get further behind..way to go strikers.
Everyone is Contacting CANCER in the UK. And the GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND NHS MANAGERS must be held Criminally NEGLIGENT.
I find it odd that cancer rates have increased by over 500%
Remember when doctors made people better
Why because thete out on strike action lyiñg in corridors elderly people having to wait hour's then end up dying to busy put foreigners in front of our own that most of the problem
